Richard Reid is an American-born television and radio presenter, primarily based in Australia. Best known for winning the 2019 series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Australia,[1] Richard is currently a regular correspondent on Network 10 Australia’s morning talk show Studio 10,[2] and was resident ‘gossip guru’ on Nine Network Australia’s Today for seven years.[3]

Early career[edit]

Richard began his on-air career with a daily entertainment segment, ‘Richard’s Reels,’ on Seattle’s 24-Hour news channel Northwest Cable News (NWCN).[4]

The success of Richard’s Reels led to the creation of a weekly half-hour series ‘Northwest Flix and Pix with Richard Reid’ where Richard interviewed celebrities including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock and Tom Cruise. Northwest Flix and Pix ran from 2000 to 2003 and earned Richard an Emmy nomination.[5]

In 2004 Richard moved to Hollywood where he worked for Access, formerly Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, The Insider and the E! series ‘Celebrities Uncensored'. While working on the Paramount Pictures lot, Richard began regular satellite gossip crosses to the Nine Network Australia’s Today, establishing himself as the show’s Hollywood Insider.

TV appearances[edit]

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Australia On February 17, 2019, Richard was crowned King of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Australia, beating former Gogglebox star Yvie Jones and retired AFL footballer Shane Barry Crawford to take the top spot. By winning season five of the Network 10 series, Richard earned $100,000 for his chosen charity, Beyond Blue.[6]

Celebrity Apprentice In 2015, Richard joined season four of The Celebrity Apprentice Australia on the Nine Network, reaching the final four and winning $15,000 for his chosen charity, Foodbank Australia.[7]

TV presenting[edit]

A correspondent on Network 10’s ‘Studio 10,’ Richard is a regular panellist, and contributes to feature segments about the world of showbusiness.

Richard was the Nine Network TODAY’s Hollywood Insider from 2008 to 2015, presenting regular features and interviews from the world of show business.

From 2008 to 2010 Richard appeared on the Nine Network’s lifestyle and DIY television series Domestic Blitz, based on the format of Backyard Blitz, in the role of ‘Family Guide’.[8]

Radio career[edit]

Richard was a contributor to Sydney’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show and programs across the Southern Cross Austereo Network, broadcasting daily into Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide.

By 2011, Richard was heard Internationally on three continents, including Johannesburg’s 94.7 Breakfast Express and with Kuala Lumpur’s #1 morning radio team, JJ & Ian on HITZ FM.
