Early life[edit]

Richard Cook Mears IV better known as Nitti Gritti [1] is an American DJ/ Producer/ Vocalist/ Drummer and Guitarist who began a career under the name Nitti Gritti in 2016. The artist originates from Pennsylvania, but was raised in Haiti as a missionary where he lived for eight years before moving to Miami, FL.[2] Nitti Gritti fuses future bass, edm, dubstep, trap, pop, rock, and rap into his versatile music. [3] He discovered new sounds while living in Haiti before moving to Miami, FL following his graduation from SAE Miami.[4] Mears has been making music since he was in fourth grade. The first instrument he learned was the drums before hearing a Skrillex song which inspired him to begin producing music on a computer.

Career[edit]

Ricky Mears as Nitti Gritti has played festivals such as Life in Color, Electric Daisy Carnival Vegas, Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando, Okeechobee Music Festival, Audiotistic Music Festival, and Asteria Music Festival.

In 2018, Nitti Gritti started off his first headlining world tour, and he also toured with Ghastly on the Mystifying Oracle tour which consisted of twenty North American stops. Mears co-produced Enrique Iglesias’ latest single, “Move To Miami” featuring Pitbull and Bad Bunny's "200 Mph" with Diplo. He released his single "Crack" on Tiesto’s label, Musical Freedom, and it was the 7th most played song at Ultra Music Festival in 2018.[5]

In 2019, Nitti Gritti kicked off the year with his second tour of Australia and New Zealand. During Miami Music Week 2019, Nitti Gritti played 7 different shows in 7 days including Diplo's Higher Ground and Shaq's Fun House. He is joining Slushii on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour in the Spring & Summer of 2019, and is playing EDC Las Vegas at the Circuit Grounds Stage.[6]
