Maksim Gabriel Knecht (born January 5, 1984), known professionally in the music industry as Maks Gabriel,[1] is an Canadian-American award-winning music producer, remixer and songwriter.

Classically trained multi-instrumentalist, between 1991 - 2002, he studied classical piano at the The McGill Conservatory Schulich School of Music of McGill University in Montreal [2] . In his final four years, he studied under renowned Russian piano virtuoso Marina Goglidze-Mdivani - student of Emil Grigoryevich Gilels who is widely regarded as one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.[according to whom?]

While in Canada, Maks Gabriel worked closely with Ryan Kowarsky of the group RyanDan(Universal) [3]. They successfully wrote and produced hit songs for numerous Canadian artists including Belly, Massari, Mia Martina, Danny Fernandes and Tyler Medeiros. They also received a Juno Award[4] nomination for Dance Recording of the year for his work on Mia Martina's album Devotion.[5] His song "Tu Me Manques" by Mia Martina[6] reached #1 spot on Europa Plus Top 40 radio charts.

Maks's love of songwriting eventually led him to Nashville when his musical talent was first introduced to Warner Chappel Music in Nashville by the late Songwriter Hall of Famer, Frank Military, Senior VP for Wamer/Chappell Music Publishing Company in New York City, a division of Time Warner.[7] In Nashville, Maks's diversity in all genres of music has enabled him to work outside of the pop genre with artists such as The Voice[8] winner Cassadee Pope, rock supergroup 3 Doors Down, Radney Foster, and a long list of hit songwriters. Maks's love for producing and songwriting drew him closer to one of his passions - TV and film.

In the two years after moving to Nashville, Gabriel had his songs placed on major TV shows such as Nashville (CMT)[9] [10], HBO's True Blood, and The Mindy Project. In 2017, Honey County's song "Love Someone"[11] which he co-produced with John Spiker, won CCA (California Country Awards) Song of Year.[12] [13]

In 2018, he released Traces of Light (Series 2), the second album of his original compositions of classical/new age sound tracks for TV and film.[14] In January 2019, Maks signed an exclusive publishing deal with Lady Luck Songs as featured in MusicRow, Nashville's music industry publication.[15]
