  • Symbol opinion vote.svg Comment: I was asked again to review it. My comment is still the same: I am going to leave it for someone else. I know the system we have for these is inefficient, but nonetheless I cannot do everything. DGG ( talk ) 05:20, 3 September 2019 (UTC)
  • Symbol opinion vote.svg Comment: I was asked to review it again.

I have improved it as much as it can be improved, by removing the weakest material, and trying to word what is left as effectively as possible. I am not going to work on it further. The standard for accepting a draft is whether it would be likely to pass AfD if nominated.

I will let some other reviewer judge if it would be likely to pass. If they accept it, I am not going to nominate it myself, but if someone else does nominate it, I think I would probably vote to delete it DGG ( talk ) 04:50, 30 May 2019 (UTC)

  • Symbol opinion vote.svg Comment: Read WP:42. Not following those rules makes the article seem promotional, etc. Some of the sources like amazon.com are not acceptable. Google query doesn't show wide coverage about him. NikolaiHo☎️ 20:15, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

Magnus Penker (born 1968) is a Swedish author and entrepreneur in the field of computer educator and IT industry.[1]. He is co-founder of "Innovation360 Group" and "Open Training AB" , and co-author of the books Business modeling with UML and UML toolkit. [2][3][4]

Companies and entrepreneurship[edit]

In 1996 Penker founded the education company Astrakan strategic education, which later merged with the network consultant Adera. After Adera's IPO in 1999, Magnus Penker left the company and started Open Training in Sweden, an online learning and e-training institute, together with Hans-Erik Eriksson.[5][6]. Open training did a collaboration with Stockholm Stock Exchange and created the web education program ”Learn to trade”. The firm was one of the prominent companies within e-learning and Interactive computer-aided education in the beginning of the twenty-first century in Sweden. [7][8]

In 2002 Penker, Rolf Jansson and the employees bought back Adera. In 2007 they changed the name to Cordovan Group.[9][10]

Penker and Eriksson sold Open Traning in 2004 to the British-based company Future Media.[11]

In 2008 Penker left the web agency Cordovan Digital.[12]

The Apple retail seller Digital Inn recruited Magnus Penker as CEO in 2012. He left in 2014 to focus on the project programming4kids.se, which aims to educate more programmers due to skill shortages in the future.[13]

In 2014 Penker founded the company Innovation 360 that develops technology for innovation development in companies and organizations.[14][15] In 2014,the company Innovation 360 launched "InnoSurvey", a tool that measures companies' innovative strength.[16]

Books and Works[edit]

Penker co-authored his first book in Swedish with Hans-Erik Eriksson on the subject object-oriented programming and was published in 1996.[17]

In 2000 Penker and Eriksson published the book ”Business modeling with UML”. The book has 16 editions published between 1998 and 2000, and is held by 390 libraries worldwide and been translated to 5 languages.[18] [19]It covers Unified Modeling Language (UML), the standard modeling software language for modeling systems. It can be used for business modeling and for software models, and links together business development and software engineering. The reason for using UML for business and software modelling is to have a consistent language, making documentation consistent and facilitating communication. They extended UML with adapted model elements for business modeling in order to identify and visualize the concepts of a business: processes, goals, resources, and rules. [20] Penker and Eriksson also proposed a business process modelling technique for Unified Modeling Language (UML), the Eriksson-Penker Business Extension. The extensions can be applied for enterprise-wide data structures and for modelling business workflows. This enterprise modeling approach was similar to CIMOSA. [21][22]

"UML Toolkit" was published in collaboration with Object Management Group (OMG), the official organization behind UML.[23]

The Australian software company Sparx Systems has built a tool with Eriksson-Penker extensions in their "Enterprise Architect (software)", which is a visual modeling and design tool based on the Object Management Group (OMG) Unified Modeling Language (UML)[24] and Enterprise Solution are holding an education program on Eriksson-Penker business extensions. [25]

In 2017 Penker edited How to Assess and Measure Business Innovation. He and the co-authors has analyzed more than 1000 companies to build an extensive database on innovation. In the book they examine their respondents’ insights on how– and why – innovation projects prosper or fail.[26]

Reviews[edit]

The Computer Bulletin gave Business Modeling with UML a rating of 4 (of 5), ”This book is useful in aiding understanding of how UML can be used to describe business and not just software systems. It is of benefit to both business modellers and to software managers and analysts.”[27]
