Last Exit is a themed food truck concept in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

History[edit]

Last Exit is a themed food truck concept spread across four locations in Dubai..[1] It offers a selection of “gourmet” street food in a casual outdoor setting.

Last Exist was conceptualized by Meraas, a UAE developer, known for destinations such as Box Park, City Walk, La Mer, The Beach and Al Seef.

Last Exit is based on the food truck park concept which brings together street food trucks in a single location. Tenants at Last Exit rent immobile food trucks in designated areas across the city, giving diners the opportunity to choose street food from around the world.

Each Last Exit has its own design and theme which has been created using upcycled materials. The destinations feature outdoor seating, entertainment and retail shops.

The first Last Exit was launched Jebel Ali South in July 2016. This was followed by Al Qudra (January 2017), Al Khawaneej (April 2017) and Jebel Ali North (Aug 2017). There are currently six additional Last Exits planned across the city, in addition to Last Exit Kids.[2]

Design Aesthetics[edit]

Each Last Exit has a unique theme that is apparent across the concept, from the design of the food trucks to the furniture and accessories used. Last Exit Jebel Ali South is evocative of the retro America of the 1950s[3] while Last Exit AUH Bound narrates a post-apocalyptic story.[4] Last Exit Al Qudra follows an equestrian theme consistent with the location [5], and Last Exit Al Khawaneej draws its inspiration from the agricultural community that it is a part of. [6]
