Konstantine Malakos is a Canadian New Democratic Party politician who is currently running to represent the riding of Glengarry—Prescott—Russell in the 2019 federal election..[1]

Early life[edit]

The son of a Greek immigrant and a Mennonite [2] Malakos was born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario in his parents restaurants.[3] He moved to New York city for school where he met his now spouse Robert German [4][5]

Political activism[edit]

While in New York Malakos got involved in the marriage equality movement and he and German became one of the first same-sex couples to marry in New York State.[6]

Return to Canada[edit]

Malakos and German returned to Canada initially settling in Montreal where Malakos became involved in the Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie riding association and served two terms as the LGBT commission co-president. Eventually they moved to a small farm near Glen Robertson, Ontario where they now live[7] [8]

Federal politics[edit]

In April of 2019 Malakos was acclaimed as the NDP candidate for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell for the 2019 Federal election at a meeting in Hawkesbury, Ontario[9]
