Draft:Dinos Golf Society
The Dinos Golf Society is owned and operated by members of the Dinos Golf Club in order to coordinate and facilitate the organization of the club, including tournaments, donations, vendors and sponsors. Our main focus focus is on the development and support of student golfers through the provision of management and finances by the University of Calgary Dinos. The Dinos Golf Team currently consists of approximately fifteen students; ten males and five females, who have made the team through annual tryouts. The team trains twice a week and participates in the Canada West Inter-collegiate conference comprised of multiple colleges and universities, as well as playing matches against other local colleges, universities, and club teams throughout the year.
Ultimately, the team’s goal is to place top five in the Canada West Qualifier hosted by University of Victoria Vikes to qualify and compete in the Canadian University and College Championships hosted by Golf Canada. The location of the championship varies every year from Quebec to British Columbia. The Dinos Golf Club has been in existence since 2001 and is solely self-funded by student-athletes. Given it is a club team, it does not receive financial support from the University of Calgary. The management, administration, and financing of the team is run by the University Athletics Department, Team members and Dinos Golf Society.
