David "Davix" Foreman Jr. is an American record producer, songwriter, and musician that grew up in Blue Springs, a small town just fifteen minutes outside of Kansas City, Missouri. David Foreman Jr., better known as ‘’Davix,” is deemed one of the leading unique music professionals for his drive to perfection, years of experience, cultivating talent, and attention for quality sound which has landed his music into the hands of major movers and shakers within the industry. Through his influential Kansas City born and raised roots, Davix grew up playing instruments, sang and dance in church choirs, school events and a family band with three younger brothers.  These roots fashioned his work ethic, creativity, and ability to produce soundtracks for film and TV in Hollywood, CA, produce songs and develop artist for Bad Boy Records under P.Diddy in 2010.  By 2011, he worked with the late great Heavy D producing, writing, and mixing on his last studio LP Love Opus.  After working with Heavy D, Davix then collaborated with Timbaland working beside him and his team, WizDumb, and J’ozzy, to create 'Coke Bottle (song)' for Agnez Mo feat. Timbaland and T.I..  Following that, Joe Simpson reached out to Davix and his team to develop and produce MTV’s Electric Barbarellas from 2012-13 which aired for 8 episodes.   By 2015-2016 Davix found himself in Miami exploring his Latin ambition with one of Latin Music's top, hit producers, Maffio (Pitbull, Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam) which resulted in a Latin Grammy nomination in 2017's 'Album of the Year' for Nicki Jam's 'Fenix' (11x platinum).

He is a graduate of Blue Springs South High school, [1]Summit Technology Academy and an alumnus of the [2]Kansas City Boys Choir in Kansas City, MO. He now resides in Southern California and is the founder and owner of Dojo in the Sky Inc.

Early life[edit]

David "Davix" Foreman Jr. was born August 14, 1983, in Kansas City, Missouri. He is the oldest of four boys to David Foreman Sr. and Lisa Bradley. His father recognized his passion early on as a toddler for music and provided the tools and instruments to shape his gift, talents, and interests. At 5 he was already playing a full drum-set and learning songs by ear on the piano. His father set him up with guitar and piano lessons at the age of 7. By 8 and 9 he was the full-time drummer at the church he attended with his family and was sequencing/programming full songs on the Korg 01/W workstation.

Davix accumulated a lot of experience as an artist himself touring the midwest with his younger brothers as a band called Mix Trac' under the direction and guidance of his father who produced live concert videos for artists that toured the region in the late '70s and early '80s. By the age of 15, he was producing and writing all the music for his own group and other local talents in his basement studio. He was active during his school life with the choir, orchestra, jazz band, marching band, and theatre so that he could learn as much as he possible about the arts and entertainment before graduating in 2001.

Davix also attended the Summit Technology Academy school of technology with a major in electronics from 1999–2001.

Career[edit]

Through his influential Kansas City born and raised roots, Davix grew up playing 5 instruments, sang and dance in church, choirs, school events and a family band with three brothers.  These roots fashioned his work ethic, creativity, and ability to produce soundtracks for film and TV in Hollywood. He and an independent film producer worked together to produce the soundtrack for a movie called Gas, starring Flex Alexander in 2004. He went on to produce and scored a number of projects for the Simmons - Lathan's Media Group, headed by Russell Simmons. He not only produced all the music for The Big Black Comedy Show but he penned and produced the theme song as well. Chemistry Sony Music Entertainment Japan, one of the biggest international artists in the world needed a hit record for their 2005 follow-up to the multi-platinum selling album. Davix submitted the song through Sony/ATV titled 'Here I Am' released on their 6th studio album "Fo(u)r" which sold over 500,000 copies in Japan and peaked at number 2 on the Oricon chart. This song was so huge overseas that JJ Abrams' hit ABC television series LOST used 'Here I Am' as the end theme song for their translated version of the show. In 2008 his music ended up in the hands of Keyshia Cole. After hearing a demo sung by one of his songwriting partners D'ana ''DNA" Lewis, she quickly requested a session to write and record 09. Brand New on the album titled A Different Me. After being distributed through Geffen Records it has won her a platinum award. Soon after that, he was granted the opportunity to develop an artist on MySpace Records which lead to signing an artist, Jeremy Greene, to Bad Boy Records under Sean Combs in 2010.  By 2011, he worked with the late great Heavy D producing, writing, and mixing on his last studio LP.  After working with Heavy D, Davix then collaborated with Timbaland working beside him and his team, WizDumb and J’ozzy, to create 'Coke Bottle' for Agnes Mo feat. Timbaland and T.I.  Following that, Joe Simpson reached out to Davix and his team to develop and produce MTV’s The Alectrix from 2012-13 which aired for 8 episodes.   By 2015-2016 Davix found himself in Miami exploring his latin soul with one of Latin Music's top, hit producers, Maffio (PitBull, Daddy Yankee, Nicki Jam) which resulted in a Latin Grammy nomination in 2017's 'Album of the Year' for Nicki Jam's 'Fenix' (11x platinum).

Currently, as of 2018 and beyond, Davix is collaborating to develop and produce talent with Grammy award-winning producers such as Brian Kennedy (Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Rascal Flatts,  Chris Brown),  Kuk Harrell (Beyonce, Rihanna, Justin Beiber, J-Lo),  and [3]Hit Bangaz (A.I.,The Jacksons, RiRi,  Basim).  He is also one of the producer/teachers for [4]Isina, an international talent competition spearheaded by Grammy-winning songwriters and icons, Walter Afanasieff, Kenny G and Babyface.

He has recently teamed up with Buddah Brown Ent. to co-produce the Genesis Motor Halftime Show for ESPN's Monday Night Football games with executive producer Venus Brown. With this, he's garnished a handful of credits that include Gwen Stefani, Lil Wayne, Boyz II Men and many more.

His passion for musicality, vibe, and expression are what makes him a valuable asset to a team and an artist’s journey.  Davix recognizes the importance of synergy between producers, writers, and artists and is able to articulate the vision at hand.  One of his greatest strengths is having the ability to architect relationships and orchestrate tasks together, not just in music but in business, which means getting to the best possible result.  His approach, integrity, and love for music and life definitely show throughout his work ethic, energy, and creativity.

Influences[edit]

Early in his childhood, he was exposed to a variety of genres and styles of music by his parents. His family raised him in a Christian, non-denominational church so there was a lot of gospel influences like Andraé Crouch, Leon Patillo, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant and Crystal Lewis crafting his ears and taste. When he started writing and programming music at the age of 9 he quickly became familiar with producer and songwriter icons in the 80s and 90s with the likes of Quincy Jones, David Foster, Diane Warren, Phil Collins, Teddy Riley, L.A. Reid and Babyface.

Some of his other and favorite production influences from past and present include: Barry Gordy and the Motown team Norman Whitfield, William "Mickey" Stevenson, Smokey Robinson, Barrett Strong, Nickolas Ashford & Valerie Simpson, Frank Wilson, Pamela Sawyer & Gloria Jones, James Dean & William Weatherspoon, Johnny Bristol, Harvey Fuqua, Gil Askey, Stevie Wonder.
