Some people refer to him as Barr Mohammed, some call him Barrister na Uke, some call him Magajin Garin Uke and recently, many refer to him as 'The Digital SSG'. Whichever name you chose to call him from any of the above, you are still correct. However, his full names are Barr Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi from Uke, Karu LGA of Nasarawa state. He's a renown lawyer, former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state during Abdullahi Adamu's regime and former Board Secretary to the defunct NICON hotels before its privatization during the Obasanjo administration. He has worked in both private and public sectors which has given him a very versatile knowledge of dealing appropriately with specific situations.
For his quest to represent his people at the National Assembly, Barr Mohammed showed interest to contest for the Nasarawa West senatorial seat in 2011 but was later persuaded to step down for his erstwhile boss, Alh Abdullahi Adamu, the Are' Obateru of the Source, Ile-Ife and Sarkin Yakin Keffi. Not satisfied, he then changed his allegiance to the then newly formed party, the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) by the then former military head of state, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).
Barr Mohammed was among the frontiers that brought to an end to the assumed most corrupt administration of former governor Aliyu Akwe Doma and brought in the incumbent governor, Umaru Tanko Almakura of CPC in 2011. This is an election that was described by many observers as the most interesting, free and fairest in the history of the state. The transparent and attested result of the election attracted the then General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) to the state during the swearing in of governor Almakura as the only CPC governor in the whole of the 36 states of the federation.
Barr Mohammed was then appointed as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state as well as the Special Adviser to the governor, a position he held sway till 2015. He did not only performed excellently to the success of the administration but also remained very close to the governor. He was among the few trusted allies of Almakura alongside the present Hon Musa Mohammed Ilu, the newly appointed non career Ambassador, Hon Hamza Musa Elayo, the present Special Adviser to the governor on Command Center, deputy governor, His Excellency, Hon Silas Ali Agara who was then also a special Adviser among others.
In 2013, Barr Mohammed was also very instrumental to the success of the historical merger of CPC and other legacy parties, ANPP, ACN and partly APGA that formed the mega All Progressive Congress (APC). He contested under the APC in his quest to represent his people at the National Assembly again and defeated his closest rival, Emmanuel Bako with an unimaginable wide defeat in the primary election to clinch the House of Representative ticket in 2014. He was widely loved and accepted by many but surprisingly, he lost to a novice, Hon Gaza Gbefwi due to the conspiracies of the powers that be in the zone.
Some accused his estranged boss, former governor Abdullahi Adamu of being behind his defeat though this is far from proven facts. It's noteworthy that Barr Mohammed has never lost an election ordinarily except with the manipulation of results and situations by certain few unfortunate and undemocratic elements who are afraid of his gifted and sterling leadership qualities to surpass them.
In February 2017, Barr Mohammed was appointed and sworn in immediately as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) by governor Almakura preceding Amb Umaru Suleiman Azores. Since assuming office, the state has gone digital in line with the globalization agenda. He has been helping governor Almakura in many areas with successful results ranging from the securing of the state's assets in Lagos inherited from the old Plateau state and diversification of other sectors. These include the attraction of the minister for solid minerals, Dr Fayemi Kayode to the state, the facilitation of the fertilizer processing/production plant resulting from the China trip, commissioning of developmental projects in almost the 13 LGAs and most recently, the signing of the MoU with the Dangote group for the successful running of the Dangote Sugar Factory situated in Tunga, Awe LGA that is expected to create not less than 30,000 jobs for the populace in the state among others.
He's being loved, appreciated and accepted across the state. It's on this basis that he has been receiving accolades, encomiums, congratulatory messages and even clarion calls from various groups and individuals to contest for certain political positions in 2019 to enable him continue his efficient and selfless service to the state.
Whatever happened in his past contest is now an history as most of his preceived political opponents are now far behind him. They couldn't stop him from achieving his dreams as he is becoming greater.
Corrections are being made for taking over the stage in 2019. It is at the senatorial level and certainly not the House of Representative or the Presidential level. The political space is gathering momentum, the masses are becoming more politically conscious, ready to protect their votes and calling him on daily basis for the mandate.
He is a sound and transparent lawyer, youthful, dogged and freedom fighter, tested and proven, trusted and reliable ally, experienced and service oriented, a detribalized and religion tolerant Nigerian. He is a traditional chieftain (Magajin Garin Uke), a hidden gold, silent achiever, full of enthusiasm with welfarism theory, very humanitarian and progressive minded.
This year he's on the verge of becoming a minister under President Muhammadu Buhari's administration.
People are anxiously calling, praying and waiting for his consent but whichever way, THE STAGE IS SET and it's widely expected that Barr Mohammed will soon give his approval and release his political machineries for the journey.
